Italiano
Strofa 1
Vecchie pareti odorano di ferro e olio,
il vento porta un debole addio.
Il fiume scivola lì sotto il ponte,
silenzioso, come l’anima di qualcuno.
Strofa 2
Testo originale
Vers 1
Gamla väggar luktar järn och olja,
vinden bär ett svagt farväl.
Floden glider under bron där,
tyst, som någons själ.
Vers 2
En man står kvar bland tomma hallar,
ljuset faller genom glas.
Han ser hur dammet dansar sakta,
i allt som tiden lämnat fast.
Vers 3
Utanför går vattnet vidare,
bort mot havets öppna famn.
Ingen håller kvar det längre,
allt får röra sig i hamn.
Vers 4
När kvällen färgar stålets yta,
och röken dör i rödblå ton,
står fabriken som en skugga,
i minnets stilla zon.
English
Verse 1
Old walls smell of iron and oil,
the wind carries a faint farewell.
The river glides there beneath the bridge,
quiet, like someone's soul.
Verse 2
A man remains among empty halls,
light falls through glass.
He sees the dust dance slowly,
among all that time has left in place.
Verse 3
Outside, the water goes on,
toward the open arms of the sea.
No one holds it back any longer,
everything may move into harbor.
Verse 4
When evening colors the surface of steel,
and smoke dies in a red-blue tone,
the factory stands like a shadow,
in memory's quiet zone.
